Trash Bags!!

So I have to talk this! It was brought up to me twice in the past 24hrs….

Trash bags are a great way to reduce friction and increase movement.

Put a trash bag on the seat of the car to help pivot around to get your legs in.

Fold a trash bag and put under your foot/lower leg to help with in-bed exercises like heelslides or side kicks (also so that the person can do more to move their own leg for hygiene or dressing)

Put a folded trash bag under the pad to help with moving someone up in the bed.

Put a trash bag under a person’s hips while lying to help with pivoting supine to sit and scooting to edge of bed (just be careful they don’t slide off the bed! Don’t leave someone alone sitting edge-of-bed on a trash bag.)

Small plastic grocery bags can be used to help put on socks or compression hose.

Let me know if you have other mobility related uses for trash bags!!
